Machinery exports from Germany continued to show high growth in the third quarter, rising by 8.8 percent year-on-year to 44.6 billion euros. The exports of machinery in the first three quarters were 10.8 percent above the previous year’s figure and totaled 133.2 billion euros. In the third quarter, total machinery exports to the EU-27 grew by 5.8 percent, while those to the UK showed particularly strong growth with 38.7 percent. Machinery exports to the two largest single markets, the USA and China, again showed differing dynamics in the third quarter: 18 percent more machinery was exported to the USA and 3 percent more to China. The highest percentage increases in the first nine months of this year within the machinery sector were recorded by following sectors: textile machinery, machinery for the manufacture of microelectronics and agricultural technology.
